Erica Rawson (she/they) works in sculpture, printmaking, collage, and installation. Her practice centers on themes of impermanence, domesticity, decay, and the unseen rhythms that shape human relationships. Erica uses materials such as textiles, wires, metals, and found objects to explore the tension between creation and consumption.
After apprenticing with Derb Design in the River North Arts District in 2013, Erica built a career in metal fabrication, contributing to installations for venues including 715 Club, American Bonded, and Gold Point. She currently lives in Denver, Colorado, and serves as the Art Director of the Matchbox Collective, curating and working with local and national artists for multiple venues throughout Denver.
Her role as a welding instructor at the Community College of Denver fostered her passion for teaching, where she cultivated a collaborative and hands-on learning environment for her students. In 2022, Erica worked with JunoWorks, contributing to public art projects nationwide. As the 2023 Museum of Outdoor Arts' Design + Build Artist Fellow, she led a team of interns from around the country to create site-specific installations at Marjorie Park in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Erica is completing her BFA at Metropolitan State University of Denver and presented her thesis project, I Moved Ground and Dust to Keep You Here, at the Center for Visual Arts in the spring of 2024.
