This project explores the tension between preservation, decay, and growth through the interconnected forms of three sculptural books. Each represents a phase of transformation: memory preserved yet inaccessible, matter decaying yet evolving, and life emerging through threads of connection.

The first book, bound with link-stitch and encased in epoxy resin, contains reflective writings about my time at MSU Denver. It is preserved yet unreadable; memories frozen in time. I invited air bubbles into the process to evoke a sense of final breaths. Threads from its binding extend outward, linking to a copper book actively decaying through patina, symbolizing inevitable erosion and transformation. These same threads connect to a living book of hand-dyed burlap, representing new possibilities rooted in past experiences.

The cedar frame exists as the memory of a tree, beholden to its new, fixed shape.
